big sister
Dear diary…
I am so proud of my little Alessia. She is the best daughter one could wish for. She loves her little sister so much, even though she met her just a week ago. She is rocking Amy to sleep, she puts the blanket on her, she gives her kisses, and wants to cuddle her. The cuddles are a bit tough, but she doesn’t know that, she wants to express her love, and that’s how she knows how to do it.
She does it to me as well. When she wants to cuddle me and kiss me, she mushes her face against mine, that neither one of us can breathe anymore. She then grabs me by the neck and holds me as tight as possible. It’s painful, but it’s worth it. They are the best cuddles in the world, for sure.
The other day, Bryan was washing Amy, and I was staying with Alessia. We went downstairs to get a “teeet” (aka a treat) after her bath, as she always gets. When we went back upstairs, she couldn’t see Amy, and she called her out. So we went to the bathroom, and she saw that Amy was taking a shower. When Bryan was washing her hair, Amy started to cry, and Alessia went ballistics on him. She started pushing him away and was saying, “papa moooooooove.”
You have to love her. It’s not the first time she’s done this. Her favorite sound to imitate is Amy screaming, which for my ears, is a true delight (said no mother ever). If Amy cries, Alessia follows. She does not like to hear her little sister crying.
My perfect little girl makes me prouder than I ever thought it was possible. Let’s not forget she is barely 19 months old. She’s still a baby. At times it shows, at times, she wants to be the center of attention. She enjoys all eyes on her like it used to be, but I know that she still loves her little sister, no matter what.
This is what I wanted from my girls, this is why we wanted them to be so close in age. We want them to take care of each other have somebody who listens and understands them. However old they are, nobody can break their bond and love, even when we are no longer here.
